AMB's Morgan Business Center earned LEED Gold Certification
The AMB Morgan Business Center's Building 100 in Bloomingdale, Georgia earned LEED Gold Certification status, making it the only industrial building in the Southeast to achieve this level of sustainability. Energy Ace provided energy modeling services for this LEED project, which earned the project 8 LEED points towards their Gold Certification.
Some of the sustainable features at the AMB Morgan Business Center warehouse include:
-
The roof and paving surfaces account for approximately 43 acres of white reflective surfaces on the site. These surfaces could have been provided with black solar-absorbent materials like asphalt which contribute significantly to increased air temperatures.
- 1/5th of all materials installed in the building are recycled from post-consumer and industrial waste.
- The entire site is irrigation-free, planted with water-efficient landscaping using indigenous, drought-tolerant plants that are completely self-sustaining. This decision will save over 2 million gallons of water per year.
- Over 60% of all construction materials used on the project were manufactured and harvested from within 500 miles of the project site. At least 40% were from within 200 miles of the site. This reduces gas and energy use by trucks hauling materials across the country.
- Water efficient plumbing fixtures, such as dual-flush toilets have been required for all tenants in the building, cutting water usage inside the building in half.
