Energy Audits a survey of existing facilities to identify the most cost-effective and practical energy retrofit opportunities. We examine the target buildings, review existing drawings and specs, study ongoing energy programs, collect and analyze 24-months utility bills and interview building operating personnel and occupants. Coupled with Utility Rates Analysis, this is a very effective service that identifies achievable and realistic Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) that may be implemented to save energy and meet energy reduction goals.
One recent energy audit of a large public building found the A/C was running needlessly all weekend; reprogramming the Energy Management System would produce $66,000 in annual savings at essentially no cost to implement.
A corporate client was blaming his electric utility for high rates and high expenses in his building; our benchmarking showed that his energy consumption was in line with his peers, freeing him to focus on his real problems of old controls and inefficient HVAC equipment.
A large school system had a pilot project for performance contracting in a few schools and wanted energy audits to assess the effectiveness of the program before it committed to a system wide contract. Our studies found serious problems to be corrected before moving forward and saved the school system millions of dollars.
